Genesis offering advanced Structural Integrity Management (SIM)

Structural Integrity Management (SIM) is a developing international standard involving the continuous process that ensures that a structure is fit for purpose both now and in the future.

Genesis Structural Consultants are currently contributing to the development of a new International Standard ISO 19901-9 - Structural Integrity Management, which is set to introduce guidelines for the integrity assessment of existing offshore structures.  As structures degrade, it can be difficult to decide the levels of inspection, repair or renewal necessary to ensure integrity. Reliability techniques and specialist analysis may be utilised to demonstrate that a structure is suitable even if not design code compliant. Therefore, selecting the right SIM strategy could save significant cost and will also provide assurance that the structure remains fit for purpose both now and in the future.
