Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Flow distribution in a slugcatcher headerComputational Fluid Dynamic is a widely used technique to solve problems related with fluid mechanics, heat transfer and general transport phenomena in either steady or transient conditions. It is based on the resolution of the governing differential equations for momentum, continuity, energy, chemical species and others by using numerical methods such as the Control Volume Method or Finite Element Methods. CFD can rigorously, and hence more accurately account for the variables that might be considered relevant to gas dispersion (such as wind velocity, temperature, species concentration, etc) on the whole considered domain.
