Decommissioning

The Genesis Environmental team comprises scientists, engineers and environmental specialists. They bring together industrial and regulatory experience along with knowledge of the marine environment, legislation and the means of achieving regulatory compliance.

Genesis can provide clients in the oil and gas industry with comprehensive support to the decommissioning process.
 
The Petroleum Act 1998 requires an offshore Decommissioning Plan to be produced and submitted to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) prior to the commencement of any decommissioning activity.

Through working on the decommissioning of Maureen, Genesis has practical experience of assisting clients with the development of Decommissioning Plans. We have conducted evaluations of the environmental impacts associated with different decommissioning options, and are aware of the requirements of UK Regulatory Authorities as well as NGOs.

Environmental tasks completed to date include:

• Full support to the Consents Process;
• The assessment of the Best Practicable
• Environmental Option associated with the removal solutions;
• Pipeline decommissioning.

Genesis is therefore well placed to guide clients through the decommissioning process.
