Dynamic Simulation

The simulation team provides a cost effective means of deploying dynamic simulation technology to solve the challenges that arise at all stages in a project lifecycle by drawing upon its established expertise in the upstream oil and gas sector.

The simulation group has developed a number of customised unit operation models to address deficiencies in industry standard simulation software. These include compressor models which account for variations in feed conditions (e.g. MW,T, P), turbo-expanders and eductors, to name a few.

Dynamic process models can be integrated with the dynamic multiphase pipeline models to provide a coherent understanding between subsea and the topsides interactions.

Most of the cost of a dynamic simulation study is incurred during model development and validation. Once the model has been built, it may be used to answer numerous questions beyond the original project scope. Accordingly, client engineers are encouraged to run, manipulate and interrogate the model - in essence carrying out their own engineering analysis - with appropriate support from the IDEAS Dynamic Simulation team.
